ABOUT THE ARTIST

Spent four years as an art major in high school and three months of nights at Newark College of Fine and Industrial Arts ...... sigh ..then i went to work .... last twenty five years owning and operating an auto salvage yard before retiring .... through all that time i still loved art.... doing collages and painting with acrylic and oils on and off for fifty years, reading books , going to shows and museums .... began again in earnest five years ago doing mixed media collage using coffee and tea stained paper and eventually colored tissue paper with acrylic mediums....currently also enjoying working with oil sticks on wood panels....

You experience and see a lot in over sixty-five years - mountains , valleys , lakes , towns , cities , farms , sunrises , sunsets , and the ever changing ocean from sailing on small boats....being from Mississippi , I've even seen land so flat you can see the curvature of the earth with different color fields stretching to the horizon....to be awed by Time Square in the mid fifties , hiding from the A-Bomb under your school desk , high school trip to Pratt, watching a president being assassinated , the strange trip through the Sixties , Vietnam , men on the moon , Nixon and on and on ........ and always the Art world ever changing ....

These thoughts and visions are what i see and what i work with to make my art .... i do name some of my work , but most of it is intuitive , therefore leaving it to the observer to contemplate on what they see , as a finished painting or from a form , shape , texture or color.... i cant explain my art in academic or religious terms ... i just have to do it and i do , not always with the success i aim for.... but always learning and never without effort ....
